You can't heal your way into a life that's wrong for you
No amount of processing is going to make the wrong marriage right. No number of sessions is going to make a career stop making you sick. You can clear and journal and regulate and go back to the same wound for another ten years, and if the life around you is wrong, your body will keep saying so, because your body is not confused about what's happening to it.
The industry you've been buying from has a stake in you never hearing that. It sells the next round. Heal enough, understand enough, get clear enough, and then you'll finally be ready to make the move. So you keep going, and every round leaves you more self-aware and no closer to moving.
Awareness was never what you were missing. You have more insight than anyone in your life. You can narrate your own pattern out loud while it is happening. And you still cannot make yourself go.
So here is what I actually think, and it's the reason my work exists at all. You don't need more healing. You need to stop waiting to feel certain, and change your life. The healing follows. It has never once led.
The real problem is that you read fear as a reason to make yourself small.
Not that you can't follow through. That's the symptom, and it's what this looks like from the outside: you decide and then unravel, you say you're leaving and then don't, you know exactly what you want and watch yourself not go get it.
Underneath that is the actual move. You reach for what you want, the fear shows up, and in half a second you file it as evidence: wrong move, bad idea, not for me, not right now. It runs faster than thought, which is why being smart about it has never once stopped it.
And underneath that is the part almost nobody names. The misread isn't a character flaw, and it isn't a decision you're making. It's programming that got installed before you were seven years old, by a child working with what she could see and feel at the time, and it runs below your thinking mind. Which is exactly why years of therapy and coaching and journaling and reading haven't moved it. Every one of those works on the floor above the one the problem is actually on.
So you land on the only conclusion available to you. You're smart, you've done more work than anyone around you, you can watch yourself do it in real time, and you still can't stop. In your math, that can only mean you're built this way. That you're the problem.
You're not. You're running a program you never chose, on a floor nothing you've tried has reached.
What's different is the floor it works on.
Everything you have tried so far lived in your thinking mind. Insight, analysis, talking it through, understanding the pattern from every angle. And the programming that runs this was never in your thinking mind, which is why you can see the pattern perfectly clearly and still not move.
The rest of this category does one of two things. It predicts, telling you what's coming. Or it excavates, walking you back into the wound again and again until you've healed enough to deserve the life. One points at your future, the other keeps you in your past, and neither one goes anywhere near the floor the problem is actually on. So you end up standing in the same spot on an ordinary Tuesday, more informed than ever, still unable to make the call and take action.
This does neither. There is no reliving the worst thing that ever happened to you in order to be free of it, and there is no waiting until you feel certain before you're allowed to move.
Here's how it works. It's called the Leap Method, and it's three moves. Catch the misperception. Settle the body. Stay.
Catch the misperception. You decide, and your mind starts the story about how you got it wrong. Your body follows the thinking, so by the time the racing heart and the tightening turn up, the story is already running, and the feeling in your chest arrives looking exactly like proof the story was right. Catching it means seeing that order for what it is. The sensation is not evidence you chose wrong. It's your body doing what your thinking just told it to do. Fear is data, not a verdict.
Settle the body. You can't think your way through this, because the programming that starts the story doesn't live where the thinking happens. So the work goes where it does live. Most of it is rooted in hypnosis, which is really just the sleep of the nervous system. It quiets the analytical mind and gets you underneath the pattern to the programming running it. That's the floor. It's the one nothing else you've tried has worked on, which is exactly why nothing else has held.
Stay. You keep the decision. You stop folding yourself down the second the fear arrives, and you stay with it long enough for the life you chose to take shape.
Here's what happened when I stopped trying to heal my way into a life that was wrong for me.
I had the realization on a Thursday and gave my notice the following Monday. I did not feel certain. I was never going to feel certain. Leaving a multiple six-figure career is still one of the most frightening things I have ever done, and I still have mornings where I wonder if I should go back.
In April, I quit twenty years of treatment. The protocols, the binders, the doctors, the supplements. Six months out from leaving, I was down from around thirty supplements a day to five. Sleeping through the night. Exercising because I wanted to. Present with my husband and my stepdaughter instead of hermited away behind a laptop. My body started healing, not because I finally found the right thing to fix, but because I removed what was breaking it.
And it isn't only me.
One woman came to me married and, in her own words, essentially single. Alone in the relationship and unable to explain why. She had spent five years living somewhere that left her exhausted and had never once connected the exhaustion to the place. She'd stopped taking care of herself, wearing the same sweatpants and the same sweatshirt on repeat, and she'll tell you now that she was covering all of it up, including from herself. She ended the marriage. "While the hardest thing I've done in a long time, it was also the best thing I've done." And the line she wanted said out loud to you: "It's not too late. Especially as women, we think it's too late to make a change, and it's really never too late."
Another chose the man, the life, and the country, and moved abroad to go do it. They married, the first work email landed the day after the wedding, and two more people followed inside the same week asking when they could start. She paid herself for the first time in years. What she kept coming back to was never the money: "It wasn't about him making it happen. It was my yes." And then: "Everything is opening right now. Doors are flying open, and I'm being pulled into rooms I never imagined I could be in... I feel powerful. I feel calm. I feel sure about where I'm at and what I'm doing."
Another had a surgery decision in front of her and the forums were unanimous that surgery was her only option. What she took from the work wasn't do it now, it was "I don't have to do anything right away. Just sit with it." So she has been sitting with her decision not to have the surgery. The perfectionism went with it: "This kind of perfectionism became a cage I built and maintained for myself." She has painted more since then than she had in about a year and a half.
Not one of them healed their way there. Every one of them chose, and then stayed with the choice.
